Selling Your Frangipani Flowers for Fun and Profit

Selling Your Frangipani Flowers for Fun and Profit

Frangipani flowers are beautiful blossoms that come in a wide variety of colors. They are famous for the lei flowers they produce and are often associated with Hawaiian culture. They are in high demand for special occasions and selling them can be very profitable provided you have a good species of Frangipani.

The first thing you must do before you attempt to sell your flowers is to make sure you know what kind of Frangipani  you have and what their value is. Some flowers are plain or basic and are worth much less than others. If you have established that you have a good variety, that is worth selling it is important to make sure that your flowers are well cared for. Frangipani are very difficult flowers and must be carefully tended. In order to make sure that your flowers will sell do not attempt to sell them until after they have begun to bloom successfully, which will be when they are about 18 months old or more. If you sell bad flowers, your reputation with people who buy frangipani flowers will suffer and your business will not last long.

Once you have established that your flowers are worth selling there are several decisions you must make in order to set up your business. Whether you are a hobby florist or you own a large scale nursery many of the choices you must make are the same. The first thing you must decide is if you want deal directly with the consumers who buy frangipani flowers or if you wish to sell to  wholesaler. If you decide to sell the flowers yourself, you have a bit more work cut out for you, but you have the chance of a greater profit. However, you also run the risk of taking a greater loss if your sales skills are not up to par. With a wholesaler your work is much simpler. You merely have to research who will give you the best price for your flowers and set up when and how often they will expect a delivery from you. Make sure you do your homework and have set yourself up with a reputable buyer.

If you have decided to sell the flowers yourself this can be a bit more complicated. The first thing you will have to decide is if you want to do your business online or if you wish to have a retail store or some combination of the two. In this modern age doing business online is easier than ever, so this may appeal to you greatly. It is important to  remember that there are cons to doing business online. While the initial expense in setting up an online business is minimal the cost of transporting and shipping the flowers may out weight the benefits. This is less likely to be a problem with higher end Frangipani flowers, but it is important to know what the cost will be before you make this decision. For a small scale operation, having an online only business or in some cases any online presence at all, may not be worth the cost.

If you decide to have a retail storefront, most of the decisions you will make will be the same as for any other retail business. Make sure you pick a location that is attractive and gets good foot traffic. For a small operation you may want to sell your flowers at a  local farmers market or at a small roadside stand. For a larger operation you may want to sell the flowers directly from your greenhouse or rent a retail store in a busy area. Make sure you advertise well. Whether this means posters, fliers, or ads on TV and the Internet, this will be the best way to attract customers, so make sure you put a proportionate amount of time, effort , and money into your advertising. If you are careful about how you run your business, selling frangipani can be a great way to make money.
